Let’s make a time machine in MidJourney

Let’s make a very detailed time machine in MidJourney. This time we’ll make it look like it’s in a Victorian room. Let’s start with a simple prompt.

Prompt: 1899 time machine in room

It’s a great first start. Let’s see if we can add more detail. Ideally, the time machine is a vehicle of some kind.

Prompt: 1899 time machine vehicle in a victorian room

I’m quite surprised by how good this looks. Let’s add a few more things. Let’s add in a 2:1 aspect ratio by adding in –ar 2:1. Let’s also add in 32k to make the quality higher. Lastly, we’ll experiment with detailed, ornate, and intricate to see which one looks the best.

Prompt: 1899 time machine vehicle in a victorian room, 32k, ornate –ar 2:1

Ornate

Intricate

Complex

Cluttered

I threw in cluttered just to see what would happen. I think the complex one is the best. With MidJourney, you always have to do some experimentation. Sometimes you get very unpredictable results. Anyway, these look good but the time machine could be better. Let’s add more detail to the prompt.

Prompt: 1899 time machine vehicle with clocks on it in a victorian room, the vehicle is steam powered and there is steam coming out of it, 32k, complex –ar 2:1

At this point, we should ask ourselves do we want a car or a steam engine. The cars looked a little better. Let’s see if we can add more to the prompt.

Prompt: 1899 time machine vehicle with clocks on it in a victorian room, the vehicle is steam powered and there is steam coming out of it, the vehicle is more like a car, 32k, complex –ar 2:1

I did two renders and here they are.

Let’s add one more thing to the prompt. These all look great but some of them, humans can’t fit inside.

Prompt: 1899 time machine vehicle with clocks on it in a victorian room, the vehicle is steam powered and there is steam coming out of it, the vehicle is more like a car, the vehicle is big enough for people to fit inside, 32k, complex –ar 2:1

I think this was well worth the effort. I like version 4 the best. However, version 2 also looks good. I like the color and staging in that version. However, the steam and the mystery of version 4 is much better. Let’s make 4 variations.

Variations

Like version 4. There are still some artifacts in this image. Let’s make a full render and see what happens.

I think this looks pretty good. The only thing that’s a little off is the fire on the side. I think it’s supposed to be in a fireplace. Plus, if you look very closely you can see some other artifacts on the windows. Either way, this looks great.
