Making comic book characters is easy in MidJourney. The difficult part is when you have to get a character to do multiple things. Let’s start with a prompt. Again, I always like to start simple just to see what happens.
Prompt: Zues as a comic book character
This is an interesting first start. There needs to be much more detail to make this look awesome. One thing you could do is say a 1960s comic and this is the result.
Either way, we need to redo the prompt with a lot more detail. We will also add in –ar: 1:2 to get a full-body shot.
Prompt: Zues as a comic book character, long white hair, full body is shown, classic greek tunic, –ar 1:2
Wow, this is a lot better than I thought possible. You can see by adding a little more detail you can get closer to what you want. Sometimes you’re able to get your result on the first try. Let’s go ahead and make variations on version 1. After this, we’ll be able to make more versions of this character.
Let’s upscale version 2 and let’s see what we get.
I think this is pretty good. Now let’s use this character in different scenes. First, let’s put him in a greek temple. To do that, we need the link of the character as well as a prompt. We’ll also change the aspect ratio to 2:1 so we can get a wide shot. By adding the link, it will ensure that this character will be in the scene. I also find it it helpful if you let MidJourney know that
Prompt: *LINK* Zues in front of greek temples, highly detailed background, there are other greeks in tunics in the scene, –ar 2:1
This is a good first attempt but as you can see, there are some problems. First we need to say full body is shown. We also should say city of temples.
Prompt: *LINK* Zues in front of greek temples, city of greek temples, full body is shown, highly detailed background, there are other greeks in tunics in the scene, –ar 2:1
The character is still cut off. We need to be more specific, this is a known issue with MidJourney. Hopefully, they fix this in the next update. We’ll add in far distance and change the aspect ratio to 16:9. This will make it easier to see the full character.
Prompt: *LINK* full perspective far distance Zues, in front of greek temples, city of greek temples, highly detailed background, there are other greeks in tunics in the scene, –ar 16:9
This is starting to work. Let’s try the same thing but add in action shot. This will give the scene more life.
Prompt: *LINK* full perspective far distance Zues, in front of greek temples, city of greek temples, highly detailed background, there are other greeks in tunics in the scene, action shot –ar 16:9
Character placement seems to the the hardest part of MidJourney. Either way, I like version 1 the best. Let’s make some variations.
I like version 3 the best. Let’s upscale it.
I think this an interesting result. Clearly there needs to be more work done on MidJourney’s end to make character placement and poses a lot better than it currently is. I often find myself fighting with the system to get what I want. It’s fairly uncooperative. Nevertheless, I think this is a good result.
