How to make a Synthwave T-Shirt design of a cat in MidJourney

Did you know that MidJourney can make T-Shirt designs? I didn’t either until I started researching this post. Let’s make a great synthwave t-shirt of a cat. It all starts with a prompt.

Prompt: tshirt vector, 80s synthwave cat, vivid colors, detailed

This is mostly ready to go. There are a few things that I want to see though. We need to be more specific. It’s always good to have a vision of what you want and to change that vision if MidJourney gives you a better result. In this case, let’s add a sunset background, make the cat purple and have the sunglasses be orange. Also, I love how each cat had sunglasses. We didn’t tell MidJourney any of that.

This is getting closer to what we want. I could almost go with version 3. If the next prompt isn’t good, we’ll go with that. Let’s add more detail

I think version 3 is a winner. Let’s make variations.

I still think version 3 is the best. Let’s upscale it and see what happens.

This could easily go on a T-Shirt. If I was making this for actual production I might play around with the quality settings and fix some of the artifacts in Photoshop. MidJourney is meant to take you 95% of the way. At least for now.
